Fried pies

I’m getting real good at mobile posting, especially from this new phone I got from Bowen and the Weir’s today:) I am currently watching three boys play golf and thinking about how out of this world supper was last night. Mrs. Weir had the bunch over for dinner last night and whipped up a feast as usual. I know I’ve told y’all how good her apple pie is but I have to tell you one more time it really is out of this world, the pie crust is just so flaky!! Anyways, yesterday I helped assemble some fried apple pies at the Weir house that were equally delicious. Mrs. Weir so kindly shared the recipe with me. I hope you’ll trust me and make this sometime, if you dont have the patience for dough just go with the pre made pillsbury.

Mrs. Weir’s apple pie:
4 cups chopped Granny Smith apples 1/2 cup orange juice 1/2 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 tsp cinnamon Melt butter and orange juice; add sugar after you mix the cinnamon with the sugar; cook till the apples are slightly tender then put in unbaked pie shell with lattice top. Sprinkle with sugar; dot with butter. Bake at 400 for 15 min then at 350 till browned – about 30 minutes.

Instead of a traditional pie, Mrs. Weir cut rounds out of the rolled pie dough while I filled and folded the dough pockets. Next we dropped the pies into 375 degree oil until golden brown and sprinkled with powdered sugar. ENJOY! And happy Friday friends!!!
